I have looked at a FX26D and was seeking comments on the power shift as to use with a FEL. Will they hold up under constant back and forth motion.

Yes they will. But someone here will give you better infor on it than me,,, i got "gear" model tractor. Would love to have one with the power shift, they are hard as nails.

I often hear "bullet-proof" and "powershift" in the same sentence. They are tough and fast and smooth. I like mine anyway for going back and forth like with a loader, but I do not have one, but with my scoop. I carried 8 big dump-truck loads of clay around to the back side of a house they other day and spread it in the back yard. Often this involves going back and forth as you pick up a scoop and turn around to carry it to the back yard. Absolutely no problems with the powershift.

I enjoy the power shift. I do find the shifts are somewhat harsh at times. My dealer, Ernie, advised I not use the power shift under heavy loads. But under heavy loads I usually don't find the need to change gears. I also don't use the power shift like a shuttle, moving from fwd to backward.

Maybe I'm a little easier than need be but I'm not interested in having something break.

Mostly use the power shift to change gears when just traveling and with a pto powered implement to get the implement going before starting to move.

I've done some FEL work with my PS and have had no problems. My Joy stick control and the power shift lever are both on the right side, so it was natural not to be shifting on the move, or at least at any significant speed. I did once accidentally shift into reverse while traveling at a moderate speed. Other than trying to beak my neck, nothing happened to the tractor. I agree with the bullet proof description.
