Doesn't surprise, or bother me. I was never in the market for one.

I like cars so if one came my way ok…

As for going out and paying retail… no way Jose.

See the UPS driver twice each day… he really does like his big brown electric UPS truck and I mentioned this thread to him and asked if he was ready to buy an electric for himself.

He said no for a variety of reasons with one being without solar California charges to much for electricity!

I really liked Ford's PowerBoost F150, however I am under the impression there were some bad problems with the rear-end.

Tesla did get government subsidies. Tesla buyers did get a tax credit of $7500. And the cyber truck is still a $117,000 piece of junk. So no they didn’t pull anything off.
I mean, your sentiment is well taken but you should still strive for accuracy in debating the matter.

Cybertruck starts at $79.9k, and there is no more tax credit. The tesla models 3 and Y have been vastly successful vehicles, profitable to produce by Tesla, and the model Y was the best selling car globally for last couple years, I believe. It is a very practical and mostly reliable EV that most buyers like having.

So what Tesla "pulled off" is what no other automaker could - finding their way to profitable EV production. The cybertruck is a piece of crap, a stupid vanity project by Elon that he obviously should have given up on. That doesn't mean the rest of their fleet isn't a success.

When I was looking to buy a powerboost, the most common issue seemed to be the rear axle hub bolts shearing. Not anything to do with it being a hybrid, just bad luck or QA in that run of axle manufacturing.

That's what it was, and it shared that rear with the heavy tow package, and those trucks therefore had the very same problems.

I've thought about it many times and an EV car would make plenty of sense for us and accomplish around 95% of our driving needs. However, I would not want it for vacation driving. I'd stick with a gas car for that. And we have an older Suburban for hauling anything large or pulling the car hauler trailer. There are 'only' 5 cars in our driveway right now for the two of us, so it may happen after retirement when we downsize to 3. :ROFLMAO:
Thanks for making me feel better about my 4 cars for two people. :D

I believe Ford came up with a good fix for the axle bolt breaking on the F150 with the heavier duty rear end. There was a bunch of people that had the bolts breaking and the repair would do it again.

We've downsized to 2 road legal vehicles. We had 3+ for many years, even before any of the kids could drive.

I drove into Sam's (45 mins) today in the truck. Timed it pretty close. The miles left showed 8 as I pulled into the pumps. Fortunately, gas was $2.019. It took 31 gallons. Gas closer to home is $2.289, so 30 gallons at 27 cents so $8.10 savings less the fuel to drive there versus the mileage of the Outback...probably saved about $5 net.

But how "profitable" is Tesla, really? From what I've read much of the profit is a combination of creative accounting and sale of tax credits.

A pair and a spare!

I've found that one vehicle doesn't do every job. Sometimes I need to haul and tow. Sometime I have to carry extra passengers that don't want to sit int he back of my supercab with little leg room. So yeah we have two and are planning to get a van for camping.

None of them will be electric....

And Elon paid back his loan quickly. And the CyberTruck is only $70K for bottom trim model.
Tesla is the most American made vehicle and as an EV has 80% fewer moving parts than an ICE vehicle.
What's Tesla stock price now? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm?
Now define "junk".
