I would appreciate some advice on recommended hydraulic oil for my backhoe. I belive the backhoe is a Sherman, i am not sure of the front loader. Rear pto runs the backhoe, front pto runs the front loader. Have researched for recommended hydraulic ISO standard and keep drawing a blank. Anyone have a recommendation i would appreciate it. I do not run the backhoe in the winter. Thanks..

I’m no scientist and have no formal education in fluids.....BUT I can tell you our heavy fleet mechanics aren’t running around with 20 different hydraulic fluids for the equipment. A universal hydraulic fluid (UHF) if it’s just hydraulics and a tractor hydraulic fluid (THF) if it also runs the trans and or wet brakes. It’s my understanding the hydraulic fluid is reverse compatible- like auto trans fluid, motor oil, brake fluid etc.
As for brand etc. Your local truck/heavy equipment parts store typically will have it in bulk. I keep an extra 10 gal on hand- a full fluid change worth. A broken hose or seal can dump a bunch of fluid fast.
