Ford 8n

Trying to find what size/model baler that can be used with an old 8n. Not concerned with manufacturer. Field is fairly flat and I don't plan to pull a trailer.

welcome. I'm guessing a john deere 14T baler might work. You will most likely need an overrunning clutch for the PTO. Hard thing about the 8n is getting the tractor to go slow enough to bale do to the gearing of it. But I know it can be done because I have seen vids on youtube of 8n's baling hay.

You need an old baler that has its own motor on it.
An 8N doesn't have a live PTO so when/if you stop
to let the baler catch up the baler also stops running.
You need a baler with its own motor so it can run
independently of the tractor's PTO.

I run an old new holland #67 and it is pretty good. You don't need independent PTO, you just need to learn to rake well. You do however need an over running coupler and probablly a 1 1/8 inch to 1 3/8 inch adapter which can be one unit. Any old baler should be OK, JD 14t, Massey 12, International 45, New holland 65, 66, 67, 68, 69. I like the new holland and the JD has a pretty good following, Although I would find a dealer and see what you can get parts and service for. You will get a lot of negative feedback trying to hay with a ford N series but I am here to tell you it can be done, and it can be fun. Good luck!!!
