I have a 8n that is having some issues. It has been converted to 12v many years ago by the previous owner. The coil was suspect so I ordered a new one. The one that I ordered said it was internally resisted. So my question is do I still need to run the resistor block or do I need to wire it straight since the coil says it's internaly resisted. Thanks

No need for two resistors

Converted my 8N to 12 volt about 30 years ago, at first I didn’t install a resistor and pretty quickly ruined a set of points, had to install resistor and new points then everything was fine.
A few years ago the 70 year old original coil went bad so I bought new aftermarket coil, installed new coil and left the resistor in the line.
It’s been working perfectly in fact it starts better now than it ever did in all the years I’ve operated it.
My 8N has a front mount distributor maybe yours has a side mount distributor ?

If it is a side mount and the coil is labeled as internally resisted then do away with the other resistors, if it is a front mount KEEP the resistor. I guessing you have a side mount since I have never heard of a front mount internally resisted front coil.

Yes it is the side mount and not the front mount.
