I have a ford 6000 tractor that I am in the middle of restoring.

I need some information on the 2&3 clutch pack. The order of clutch disc.

The Ford dealer tell me that both packs are the same but when I took it a
apart it is differert between them.

Any one have the answer
Thanks
Richard from Idaho

Richard are you talking about the 6 cylinder ones with the Select-O-Speed transmission or the newer series?

you need to get the sos supplement for your machine.. it contains alot of info.. the oem ford service manual will be quite helpfull.

the master parts catalog will have a exploded diagram and part numbers showing the clutches and order of assembly. if you don't have the parts manual, go to the new holland parts site and you can pull up diagrams and parts lists.

good luck on the 6000 it was fords red-headed stepchild for sure.. unlike anything else they made.. engine or hyds wise.. and was only offered int he sos style trans unfortunately..

I was almost crushed by the neighbor's old 6000 when it started climbing the back tire of the 861 Ford that I was using to tow him home when it quite near the house. He did not tell me without the engine he had no brakes and when I went over the crest of the hill in his driveway here it came. The old 861 did not have good brakes either.

When I looked back and saw the center to the 6000's front axle being pulled up over my tractor by my tire right rear tire I realized the 6000 was going to come completely over my tractor because I was now heading down a steep hill and he was about to follow.

I stood up on the brakes because there was nothing else for me to do and fully expected to be crushed. The 6000 with a large disk was just breaking the crest so with the front end lifting off the ground gave it the effect of going up hill slightly and just before it got to the top of my back tire my brakes was able to lock up the tire so it slid to a stop just before the 6000 reached me.

What took place behind me I could not see well but others going down the road stopped and chucked the disc and 6000 tractor tires. All this time I was about to pull the steering wheel off as I stood on the brakes.

It seems like that a good size truck chained to the disc and when they took the slack out of the chain they had some problem trying to get me to get off of the brakes.

I do not remember any details of what happened after the 6000 was pulled off of my tractor. I guess I went and parked it at our house which was next door. It did crush my rear fender some but we never replaced it.

I know God looks out for teenage boys.

When this tread was started in brought this accident to mind.
