Ford 5000 (233d) crankkey dimensions?

Anyone got crank key dimensions for the 233 diesel crank?

Long story but mine is broke and a new one is very pricey from CNH. Don't have crank in my possession and won't til Monday. By then I'll be off work til Thursday with no mill access and was wanting to get the rebuild underway.

And I seem to have misplaced the broken one.

It's not a square key. It's 3/8 wide by something less for depth. With only having the gear to go off of, reverse figuring the key depth formula, and assuming the crank was cut standard depth, I come up with .323"

So my gut tells me it's 3/8 x 5/16. Anyone confirm?

online CNH parts shows - 5/16" (7.94mm) x 3/8" (9.53mm) x 2.86 (72.64mm), Start Year: 01-JAN-65 C9NN6N250A

That's where I looked a few weeks ago and could have swore the size wasn't listed.

we have made them out of a nail before, bend a 90 in it a hammer the head flat, works good when your in a bind

Not sure how a nail would replace a 3/8 x 5/16 crankshaft key that holds the gear that drives the camshaft and injector pump, and keeps things in time
