Ford 3910 Question

A fellow that rebuilds Ford tractors for a living is selling a 1983 Ford 3910 that he tells me came with the larger engine 4.4 (201 CIO) 55HP. He said that there was an overproduction of this larger engine that was intended for a backhoe that wasn't selling well and Ford put them in the 3910. Has anyone ever heard of this?

If it left the factory with a 201 it would also have had decals that read '4610'. I'm not buying his story.

Yeah Rick, they must have forgot to put on the stickers.

I've always assumed they were the same block with different bore/stroke.
