I am (maybe!) fixing this unit for a church. It moves but just barely (engine is OK) and the bucket moves bt has no "oomph" (e.g. it wont lift the front end off the ground).

The hydraulic fluid (the reservoir is the transmission case) was contaminated with water, so we replaced the fluid and its filter. Negatioe results. There ARE metal crumbs in the filter.

Any ideas? I have no specific info or experience on this machine.

While it might not lift the front wheels of the tractor off the ground (mine doen't under all conditions either) there might not be anything wrong. The real question is will it lift a loaded bucket. If it does that satisfactorily, I wouldn't be overly concerned about not lifting the front end under all conditions.

Metal crumbs is not a good sign, some parts are breaking down.

If you have any idea of the pumps pressure rating, you could install a gage in the input to the FEL, and the indications will give you a good idea where to look. For instance if the gage only reads 1500 on a 3000 psi pump, It either means that the pump is worn, or the valve is leaking, or the relief is stuck open, or you are only lifting about half a load. .

I believe that any FEL should be able to lift the front end of a tractor.

Very few CUT's will lift the front axle with the loader if the operator happens to have the parking brake set. I've had this discussion with customers many times over the years. Loader geometry requires that the rear wheels roll a tad while the front axle comes up. If it can't roll, all you get is a squalk from the relief valve.

Clutch pedal freeplay should be checked. This is in regards to the "it barely moves" comment.
