Measure the nut and get the correct socket, then if no BIG impact wrench, use a breaker bar, with extension pipe if necessary, placed near the ground, or bumper. Bump the starter, the engine will turn clockwise and loosen the nut.

starter not in picture as engine is out and on ground nut is hard to measure as it is in a recess in flywheel best i can measure is 2 5/32" just trying to find out what others have used or done as IT manual says this nut is to torque to 275-304 ftlb how did you hold the flywheel for that

That's going to be a major problem without a BIG impact wrench. It's probably on there at 500+ ft. lbs.

Sometimes there comes a time when you call the roving mechanic, the guy with a huge service truck who can overhaul anything right in your driveway. This is real expensive. He'll have it unscrewed in no time. Or Plan B might be to rent a huge impact wrench and towable compressor.

Can you get the crankshaft out without removing its flywheel? If so let the machine shop remove it or maybe just leave it on while the crank is reground.
