Flat tire, now what?

I'll bet Sound Guy's 8n and 2N have weather checking you would not believe. my step-brother has had a 9N for 30 years that had checked tires when he got it, probably original, about 60 years. They are still running.

i have a 951 that the tires are literally disintegrating. I just don't run it in anything but pasture.. so a blowout is no issue.

yep. I don't know what I'd do if I had a tractor tire that was NOT checked..

I bought 4 new ones. I didn't want to get way back in the woods and have a flat or a blow out due to the cracked tires .I would be real pi$$ed at myself if I had a flat because I was too cheap to buy tires. I know I still can have a flat with new tires. But, I feel safer

Turf tires are great if you only run on hard surfaces or turf. If you are in dirt and mud go with ag or construction type tread you won't be sorry. I also have been hit with the imported tire thing from dealers, but have never seen a rubber tree in the U.S.A.

I don't think they use rubber trees for tires anymore

Just an update that I got the tube fixed, and had to take the wheel to a small independent shop to air it up. It does need to be replaced. There's a blowout the size of a silver dollar in the center of the tread, and the rubber is rotten. I am going to replace both rears fairly soon. I wouldn't mind starting with new tires.

The way some talk. They would run that tire with a boot in it. I sure wouldn't. I go places where, I don't want to be changing a flat tire if I can help it. The way my property is, I would be asking for trouble using that tire

my old tires were like that, after having the first flat I replaced it with a used but still was dry-rotted tire, this is when I realize how thin made the tires for our CUTS are, I suppose no heavier than our tractors are they didn't feel like the tires needed to be heavy duty, No comparison to the tires on Heavier Duty larger farm tractors,

Well, not good. I just blew, and I mean BLEW my left front tire! Man, this stinks. I did notice a "Made in China" logo on the side. This tire will have to be replaced as I doubt any tire place will deal with it. The rim is bent, too. I happened to run over a stick which punctured it. Are there any stronger tires?

i have tires like that with boots in them.

have seen tires bolted together with other tires as patches.

i have seen bailing wire used to stitch up a split tire.

some people have more ingenuity and need than money.

I would like to find a way to repair the front tire. I don't want to risk ruining new tires with all the branches and things laying around. I am surprised that the front blew out like it did.

Looks like a R1 front, so I assume its 4wd. If it is, get to make sure whatever you replace with is same size rolling circumference.

Hoyetractor has your front for $99, BUT says "this tire is an inferior Chinese tire, and you can expect several years of life from it, but expect weather cracking with in weeks"

If money is tight (when isn't it?) perhaps look for a 14" "donut" spare at a junk yard. Unless you match the overall height do NOT use it in 4wd. Im guessing a junk yard might have hundreds of donut tires, and although it might not be a permanent fix, it should get you working again.

When it comes time that you have a spare $1000, consider looking for a full set of 8 ply tires. Although they are more money, they are far tougher the the 4 plys you probably have now (which are about same load capacity as a passenger car tire)

Looks like 165/80r14 tire would be very close match, if you could find such a thing. Or a 185/70r14, might be a bit harder to get on rim (wider tire, same height) but this is a small standard equipment car tire, and any local used tire guy might have one laying in back yard.

In new tires maybe yes, but his I would say no. As bad as there dry rotted, I would expect lugs to tear off, and tires basically fall apart within a few years. Foam is great, but too expensive to use for just a couple of years. BTW, I just found out that foam filled tires can be turned and retreaded once the thread gets slick. A road builder doing a job for me right now does that in some of his mine equipment (D400 40 ton trucks, large 980 loaders ect). The haul truck tires are approximately 6 ft tall, and cost $6000 each, and foam is like $4000 and retreading is around $1000. These trucks are 6x6, so that's $36,000 worth of rubber per truck....

I once thought of getting some 10"wide Chevy 6 lug 15" or 16" rims, ( think someone said were same bolt pattern) and get a aggressive 36"-38's mud tires to put on the rear, would be approx the same diameter, although the rims would have to need a offset in order to clear the fenders,

Dang i should of tested this for us!! i jsut sold a set of 33" super swampers that were on extra chevy 4wd 6 lug rims!!!

I do know that my friends JD855 has turfs that are 33x12.5x15 on it, there tractor tires but could run truck tires.

I see you have discovered the double post thing that has been here for over a year , since the last website update! Maybe 2 years ago now?? There was a thread but i quit following it and pointing the issue out when it was clear they were not going to fix it. I know sound guy was also for awhile.

My bad for offering a one line reply... only suggested foam as a future suggestion against flats.

The tire shop that did my foam said they will retread my little BX tires for 50% of new when the time comes...

Big shop with 24 truck/equipment bays and full retread service... lots of AG in California's Central Valley...
