On average figure about 5HP per foot of mower so with your net 20hp at the PTO you would be in the 48" range. What do you plan on cutting, how often and what's the terrain like.

A neighbor has a 52" flail mower and 19 pto HP. Runs it fine.
Brand is a Del Morino Funny Top that can be offset manually. I liked it so much I bought the same model also.
My tractor has 19.5 pto HP, works good.

Please decide "exactly" how much money you can spend and then
start shopping for a 48" flail mower for your mowing conditions.

1986 Ford 1310 with 19 hp 1.0 L Diesel engine, manual transmission.
It's doing very well with a 5' Ford 917L (side slicer flails).

This mower is not designed for hammer flails, which would likely require more hp.

I'm running a Woodmaxx 62" flail mower with grass Y blades on a BX2200. Lifts and turns it just fine even through tough 3' grasses.

Does a fantastic job of mowing my lawn when I feel like running it.
