HI Everyone, My name is Stevie Donaldson. I just ordered a new GT2544 with triple bagger. I have read alot of ya'lls post and it helped in my decision. Tractor should arrive by end of week, still hoping all goes well. No snow down here just grass and leaves. Thanks for the info furnished.

No mostly zero turns, but I will look for dust because I think that is where it is coming from somebody's show room or worst yet parking lot

No worries Stevie. Dealers can't carry the inventory they used to. You might find some stragglers here and there in showrooms this time of year, that's about it. Just make sure it's to your liking when you pick it up or they deliver it.

Stevie -

Congrats on the purchase. Although I don't have a 2544, I have owned Cub products for the last 15 years, currently own 5 Cubs, and have had great success with them.
Enjoy it!

I know where you can get a great deal on left-over 08 models ;)

I think they have a 2550. And another 2500 Series of an unknown size.

2544 was the size I originally wanted. The dealer only had the 2542 (smaller motor and tires) or the GT 2550, said the 44 was hardest to sell so he didn't carry many??. Needless to say i ended up with the 50- kinda over kill for my small yard but oh well.

Yes, you can find wicked deals on leftover models if you can hold out until Feb/March. Prior to buying my 2544, I could have had a new, old stock 2004 2186 for ~$2300. It's basically a 2542 w/ a Briggs Vanguard 18hp (maybe 16?), 42" deck and the aluminum rear end case. I hesitated and it was gone a week or 2 later. Even so, when I got my 2544 in 2005, MSRP was $2999 and that's what I paid (+ tax of course).

The 2186 came with a 20 HP Kohler in 2004. Choice of 44" or 48" deck. This was the model I was gonna get too. My 2518 is exactly like the 2186 with the Cast Iron tranny being the only difference.
I paid $3899 plus $280 tax in 2003.

Its here. One minor blip with carburator cut off switch sticking after cutting 20 minutes turning off then trying to restart shortly after. The dealer came right out and picked it up within 30 minutes of calling them. Had it back within 1.5 hrs. Been running great since. The funny thing is I had taken my wife outside to show it to her for the first time and it wouldn't start. Needlest to say she wasn't to happy. I got her on it today and it made her feel better about it. When those blades spin up it sounds like a plane taking off sorta. We will see how it goes. Got a bagger coming for the fall leaves. That will make her and the kids happy "rake, rake" LOL Thanks for all the post I have read back to about page 65 alot of info. Glad you got everything sorted out. Nothing beats a reliable dealer!
I have the triple bagger for my 2158 and it does a great job. One thing I have learned with leaves is to mow over them first just discharging. Then use the bagger to collect the smaller pieces. The chute doesn't plug up as bad.

I think you will like the 50" over the 44". I have a GT2554 and the larger deck makes it easier to mow up close to trees and beds. Remember bigger is better!!!!

Thanks. Yeah obviously I got the model # wrong. It was a 218? somthing. Definitely had the Vanguard twin, 2 blade 42", small front and rear wheels, low seat mount, etc.. Wuddever it was, it was a leftover deal for someone.
