I acquired some forks from and old fork lift and decided to attempt to build a bracket to hold them. I am very happy with the outcome.

Boy those look heck for stout, How much can your FEL lift? They would be too heavy for my little Bota, but might be just right for your JD. looks like you did a great job.

The heaviest load I have picked up with it weighed 1100#. According to the spec sheet the loader is rated for 2400# at the pivot.

How did you build the quick hitch between the loader frame and fork attachment? Looks good.

Looks great, Now I would add a bulkhead above, allows you handle larger bulkier loads, especialy brush.

The quick hitch is a JD part that I welded on. It is designed to be welded on to the back of the bucket.

JB4310 - I have the plans drawn up for the bulkhead just haven't built them yet. I thought about it after I finished the main bracket.

Nice work! Nothing like getting a freebie?? Like you, I rec'd a set of forks and carriage from a forklift. I hope to post later this week. I too have to do the bulkhead to it as well.

Nice work, looks really good!!!

Holy cow!!! I would say they wrote the book of heavy duty about that thing. You have made something that will serve you and your grand kids will be able to pass it down saying it's been in the family since the early 21st Century.

Looks excellent. I have some forks just like that but haven't gotten around to making a mount for them. Good job!

leblaken,

Nice job on the fork adaptation. I did something very similar like that for my PT.

Here are some other ideas you might adapt.

Looks good!

The only thing I would suggest (and I did to mine) is to put a 4" spacer on the bottom of your FEL mount.. this allows you to tilt your load farther back in the event you are going down hill.

Anyone have more info on the grapple attachment? I can fab that up pretty easy just don't know much about hydraulics..

I'll second what camoman said. I found out my forks needed more curl after I built them. I think forks are the most useful attachment you can have.
