I finally purchased a BX1500; paid $7,250. It's got 441 hours, 48" mower, FEL, quick hitch and shaft, grill guard, wheel weights, and chains. Tractor is in excellent condition and was always garaged and serviced by our local Kubota dealer.

Here's my question, the prior owner never used the rear PTO.....so, last night I shift the PTO lever to rear PTO only to make sure it works, and it does. The problem is that I can't shift it out of that position. I did everything by the book but it doesn't seem to want to come out and I don't want to force it. Any ideas:confused::confused:

Congrats on your new purchase...I've had the same problem with my BX23...Took a little pushing/pulling on the lever and a slight sound of gears but I finally got it to go back to my MM position...Stick with it and you'll get it.

since its a meshed gearing for pto, it can't be forcced. All you need to do is kinda engage and disengage the pto a little then try shifting out of rear to whatever you need. It takes a little finesse and patience. When Mine doesnt shift, i just stop what I am doing and pretend to engage the pto a little then off. it will shift out of rear no problem. Good luck.

I know this is not the answer to your question but here is something I encounter. Sometimes I have a little trouble engaging the PTO (mid or rear)

I just move the tractor a little forward of reverse to move the gears. When it is really stubborn it takes two or three "moves" but it never fails to make the engagement smooth. I mean just drive forward or back about a foot or so and try again.

What radioman says is what I do. Turn the PTO on for a brief second, when it has almost stopped turning, change it from PTO to mid PTO. It may grind a little.
