I do not claim to be an expert on filling tires but have done it a couple of times but here is my opinion. Calcium chloride is like sodium chloride (table salt) and will rust your rims eventually. I bought a tractor with it in the rims and had to replace both because the tubes were bulging through the rims. I loaded my tires with used antifreeze from automobiles by chucking a used powersteering pump into a drill ( screw a bolt in the shaft) then clamping a hose to the valve stem. I made sure I burped the tire when needed. I also helped load a tire by using an old auto AC compressor. You should find a garage that will give you their old antifreeze. Yes, I know it will kill animals that drink it, especially cats. I do not like the idea of using plain water because it will eventually rust the rims too. If you do not mind spending the money, it sounds like the rim guard is the best choice. Just my opinion.

Same thing i used - used antifreeze. I am now also considering filling my fronts however it does not look like I need to at this point. Unless we get a huge amount of snow later this year and then I find i need more traction in 4wd

I filled my BX 2230 tires today. I bought an air/water valve from a tractor guy in the local area and went to WalMart and got 14 gallons of RV/Marine anti-freeze. I put 7 gallons in each tire and filled the rest (3 gal) with H2O, I hope it didnt dilute to much, we do get some freezes in the winter. I used a battery operated pump which I put in a bucket and poured the liquid into the bucket. After each gallon I turned off the pump and the air burped back through the pump, and then I started the pump again until no more fluid was pumped, I would turn the pump off and then I burped it again. I just repeted the cycle. I decided to use the RV/Marine anti-freeze because it is non toxic. I have two yellow Labs and if you know anything aout labs, they get into everything.

I heard that NAPA also has a air/water valve kit for tire filling too.

Any estimate on the cost of the Napa kit?
I would assume any drill pump would work as well. They are so cheap I think they would last enough to use with the calcium too if one was inclined to.
Ive used them to pump 275 gallon oil tanks for awile.
I think Napa, at least around here, should somehow get the word out that they have so much tractor stuff. They have the Ball links, and for mine all the filters aval.Certainly a surprise to me. There are so many small tractors around the country now, I think they realize there is a market for these items.
On their site, I just typed in the kind of tractor, and they list the napa part number right out for you.
Glad you got em filled.
