Now I see. We call that farm diesel down here.:D
Some people call it ag diesel others call it farm diesel and still other folks call it off road diesel but no matter what it's called it's still the same stuff.

I beg to differ. I once foolishly used off-road diesel while driving my tractor on the road, bounced and pitched all over the place. On the flip side, every time I use on-road diesel in the tractor when I'm out in the back 40 I get stuck up to the axles. Believe you me, the on/off road difference is much more than just being red in the dye.
I need some interstate diesel so I can run my tractor on the interstate.

Here where I live..AG diesel is the same as #2 off road..is the same as #2 fuel oil...etc..etc...color and all.

I dont burn enough diesel fuel to even worry about taxes etc...and what it would cost me to get a tank...even with a hand pump..etc..isnt worth it ...not even close...*PLUS..I know Im always getting fresh fuel when I buy it at the station.
My off road comes from the local Ashland bulk plant .
3 Fuel distributors haul from that plant.
*You can't get any fresher than that.

I don't know. Maybe some people refine their own. ;)

And once again I learn something new from from TBN, this time about Power Service additive.

I've been adding the "white bottle" Power Service to my BX, and hadn't heard of Trigger's "grey bottle" formula. Looked it up and discovered that I've been using a winter formula year-round. Power Services' website says that's fine, but I think I'll check out the summer version next trip to the auto parts store.

While it is preferable to use Diesel Kleenョ +Cetane Boostョ (grey bottle) in non-winter months for maximum injector clean-up and a cetane boost of 6 numbers, Diesel Fuel Supplementョ +Cetane Boostョ (white bottle) can be used on a year-around basis. Although Diesel Fuel Supplementョ +Cetane Boostョ is an antigel, it will not harm your engine to use year-around.

I think the white one doesnt give quite as much cetane boost as the grey one i cant quite remember as im not looking at the bottle. I do know that at least in the truck my mileage dropped a little on the white bottle.

OK back to the regularly scheduled program :D

I use Stanadyne Lubricity Formula in my tractor and my truck since day one with no problems. Truck has 136K.
Are blue nitrile gloves safe for off road Diesel? I have only used them in on road Diesel.

Just got my new M59 - fuel tank says ultra low sulfur only. So it's come to tractors now.

Gee,this brings up a question. If a farmer operates his tractor on the road, say between fields for instance, with off-road fuel, would that be unlawful? In reality there may be an exemption for that, and the mileage accumulated on the road would be so little as to make enforcement silly. But,would it be legal? An even wilder thought comes to mind. How about the guy that has lost his drivers license for a drunk driving ticket using his tractor to drive to work. Would using off-road be technically unlawful? And would anybody even care?

No, it is not unlawful for a farmer to operate farm equipment on the road with "off-road" fuel. In fact, I can't remember for sure whether, technically, there's such a thing as "off-road" fuel, or if it's simply "untaxed" fuel.

As to the other part of your question . . ., it's actually unlawful to drive your tractor to work (unless it's farm work) whether you have your license or not. Technically, you can only operate farm equipment on the public roads for agricultural purposes. However, in reality, I'd be surprised to see an officer stop a farm tractor to inquire as to the purpose of the trip, unless he sees it regularly going somewhere that no farming is being done.

And of course, I'm talking about Texas law; don't know what it might be in other states.
