Fence charger will not work. There are immersion methods using batteries and sacrificial metal (often rerod). My guess is that they are even posted on this site somewhere. Not practical for a whole tractor.

Ken

I don't know, them fence chargers can do a lot. Back when I was between wifes 3 and 4, I was goin with this girl Ethelene. I tell you that girl had a body that was built for sin, and I was hopeing she had a mind that was willing to learn, but I was drinking a bit more than necessary back then, and she didn't like my drinking one bit. Seems the girl was a Baptist Holy Roller or some such thing, and her daddy was a drinker. She was not the child of happiness at all. Well now as I was saying, she lived in a nice trailer, and I'd step over to visit. Well this one evening I stepped up to the trailer, standing right there on the metal step, and when I grabbed her doorknob I saw stars & lightning bolts, and found the lord. Turned out that gal had hooked up one of them weedchopper chargers to that knob. Put me off the drink for quite a while it did.

Now this immersion thing, are we talkin immersion like when Brother Philbert does the Baptising thing? I've been to quite a number of those, but don't recall seeing no sacrifice, well other than some that had free food. Don't seem like baptising a tractor even a rusty tractor would be a good idea though, be pure heck trying to get it started after what with the whole aprkplug system getting wet and all.

Hi Egon,

Good question. The answer to this is that during the time that the engine is started, or the ignition in on, this system is not needed. As you rightly mentioned, the vehicle body is used as the return to the battery, thereby completing the electrical circuit.

This is the reason why older vehicles when in constant use, rusts little. However, as soon as the vehicle is parked and the battery runs dead, the rate of rust increases, and the deterioration of the body can be visibly noticed after a few months.

The electronic rust inhibitor system should be plugged in after the ignition or the engine is turned off. In some cases, this can be done automatically. The wiring needed can be cumbersome as the ignition circuit will need to be configured to act as a switch for the device.

regards
Marlon
Folks apparently buy that Harbor Freight Fuel Miser thingy that clamps on the fuel line too. I just can't help but wonder who has the horsepower in today's world to put together such a conspiracy that can keep these things off the market. Maybe a combination of the two gadgets can help Toyota. That is if they ever get past the conspiracy on the floor mats.
