Hi Team,
I recently purchased an FF Industrial FF18R mini excavator from the auction, this is the model with the RATO 420cc engine. The unit has the pilot controls and I decided to remove all the panels ready for a complete check of fittings and a fluid change as most have advised with these Chinese units.

Please can anyone advise me if this location of what I believe is the voltage rectifier regulator, hanging loose on a small lug next to the bottom of the gas tank is safe ? it was only held in position by one hex cap screw which was not even threaded into the aluminum lug, just poked in ? I am now wondering if I will have to extend the wiring and relocate away from its present location which will be a frustrating exercise as I am no electrician.

Does anyone with an FF15 /FF18 running the RATO420cc engine know the correct location where it should be fitted in the engine bay ?

Has anyone installed a cooling fan in this FF Mini ?

Thanks in anticipation, ;)

I signed up for this because I saw your question. I have no idea if that is what you say it is but I can tell you this I had less than an hour on mine and it started on fire yesterday one of the hydraulic hoses on the bottom wasn't tightened all the way. if you come across a manual or any information about a wiring harness could you please let me know. Thx a million and whatever that thing is move it if you can.

The mini is all back together now, thanks for the replies. I am trying to smooth out the jerky controls, I have carried out the usual remedy for removal of air in the hydraulics but suspect I will have to carry out some more tweaks to smooth out its operation?

Have you looked at or tried the pilot control spring mod?

Just ordered a set of Gen2(y)
Thanks! I see it and will get the kit on its way to you in the morning.

NOTE: While you wait for your kit to arrive, I recommend a non-petroleum based grease (e.g. Silicone or Lithium).

If you have not already secured your regulator/rectifier, it has vibrated loose from its mounting on the engine.

I like to relocate the Reg/Rect to the firewall of the machine. This avoids vibrating loose again, and it helps it stay cool.
