I have a Kubota 3240 W/ 724 loader. It has about 15 hrs. on it. I needed to lift a Zero Turn mower. The mower weighs around 1100#. I was lifting it with chains attached to the bucket. I couldn't lift the mower at all. The Hyd just bypassed. I removed the bucket and repeated the lift. I was able to rase the mower a couple of feet, but that was about it.
The loader spec. sheet says that the lift cap. @500mm forward and max hight is 1415 lbs. At the pivot pins an 1500mm ht it goes up to 2324 lbs.
I would like to check the Hyd relief setting. Can I do this by plugging a pressure gauge into my rear remote, or do I need to connect to the loader valve?

Thanks, Bill

Connect it to the IN port of the loader valve or one of the cyl QD's

The 3pt has it's own relief.

This may be a dumb question, but isn't it the case that the lift capacity is highest at max height because the bucket/load is closer to the tractor, and lift capacity drops as the arms go down to horizontal?

Now if it was a dumb question, I would have the answer. :scratchchin:
Honestly, I don't know. Being non metric I don't know how high 1500mm is. Maybe someone smart knows the answer.:anyone:
The spec sheet had several other lift cap. data at different heights ect. I just gave what was the min. and max. lift cap. on the sheet.
My reasoning was that without a bucket installed, the FEL should handle a 1100# mower, at any lift hight. This is why I suspect that the bypass may be set too low.
I thought a friend of mine had a gauge setup, but he doesn't. I'll just have to load it up and bring it to Kubota and get it checked.

Well I finally got around to bringing the tractor to Kubota. They said that the relief was set 50# below max, and that they will adjust it. Unfortunately they didn't have the correct shims. I left the tractor there. It should be ready on Wed.

Will 50# increase make that much difference in the lift cap.?

About 250 lbs increase per cyl, x 2 =500 lbs increase at the cyl with a straight on push. The angle of the cyl to the mounting point will probably be less.

You could have made yourself a hyd test set for about $30.

Thank you for the info. I thought about getting a test set, and I may yet.

I was pretty sure that it was bypassing early. The tractor is new, and I thought it best for Kubota to make any adjustments needed. (He who touched it last owns it, rule.)

If you are correct, and I have no doubt that you are, the additional lift will put the loader in the advertised lift range.

Thanks, Bill

It's the opposite. As the loader raises the loader cylinder's leverage chances for the worst. The higher you go the lower your lift capacity. The most will be at ground level.

My 640 SL loader will lift 4856lbs at ground level, 4008lbs at 1.5m (59"), and 3440lbs at maximum height.
