Anyone Knows the green and yellow {yet to come} paint makes it worth more. Had a friend that would run west and haul back a truck and trailer full of 69-72 chevy truck parts as soon as he got laid off. Now he works for GM at the Powertrain plant in Defiance Ohio. He is gald he did it when he had the time.

Today, I started by grinding down all the spot welds I rewelded when installing the floor supports. I also cleaned up any surface rust and in general got it finished on the top side.

Welded the back seat mounting bracket back in place

Seat belt 'nuts' are welded to a plate that is spot welded on the underside of the floor pan. One was rusted thru, I salvaged the nuts and made up a new plate.

Top side of floor pan done...

Finished up the day by wire wheeling/grinding the frame rail and cross members and brushed on some primer.

Maybe... the possibility of a southern rolling chassis was talked about. But nice guy that he is, my boss wanted to spend the same money to pay me to go this route instead of spending more on parts and less on labor (my paycheck). I love getting the experiance, my next personal project will be chopping the back wall out of a crew cab truck and adding an extended cab section to the crew cab. With 6 kids, I want 3rd row seating for my truck.

Six Kids! Wow! You do everything Good!

It is amazing to see the amount of rust on that truck. It looks worse than some 50 year old vehicles that have been setting in a field or something. I think it's a combination of cheaper, thinner steel these days and the crap they treat the roads with. If folks would just be happy staying at home when it snows we wouldn't have this problem, but everybody fusses if they can't get out and drive in it........Rant over.........

Sounds like you've got a good boss and he knows what he's got in you. Makes for a good day at work. Thanks for sharing the project.

For sure on the 1st line, seems like some vehicles rust through in 7 years now. As for the second line, during the cold months I would only get to work once a week if I stayed home every time it was slippery out.

I agree with both of you... things rust out too fast due to the material used and the road salt... but I'm also required to be on the roads when its bad out. However, meny people who are out then, shouldn't be... their driving-in-bad-weather skills are lacking.

Can't get my pictures to download...today I painted the bottom of the floor pan (all white!) and cleaned up and primered more if the frame and front cab mount areas.
