When I bought my F215 (which is a fantastic tractor) a couple of months ago I found that the regulator/rectifier did not work and the instruments did not work because the fuse was blown.
I put new fuse in and all instruments worked until the engine was started and revved - then the fuse blew again.
I put this down to the non working regulator - there is 25V AC at the battery terminals - Am I correct or should I be looking for a short somewhere ?
I have been trying to buy a regulator/rectifier in the UK ever since with no success so far - will the unregulated voltage damage anything and can anyone supply this unit to me the UK?

25 volts is way too high, you will overcharge your battery, warp the plates/boil it dry, plus you could burn the alternator out too!

Usual charge voltages for lead acid batteries fall in the ranges of 13.8 to just over 14 volts.

25vac out of the alternator is correct; however, he does need to replace that regulator/rectifier to get proper DC voltage to the battery.

I agree with all the above. You can charge your battery with a battery charger and disconnect the alt. leads. It will start several times between charges. You can then use your tractor until you find the parts.

I'm not in the UK, but I have the regulator, your F215 also has a current limiter.

You say the 215 also has a current limiter - is this a separate unit to the rectifier ie do I need 2 components?
Can I simply disconnect the alternator lead connector and run the tractor without damaging the alternator?
