I have an F15D and I changed mine as soon as I got the tractor.
I used Hytrans from Tractor supply, but as long as it meets the JD 303 spec you will be fine. 5 Gal's was enough to fill mine completely, with filter change.
You have two filters, 1 spin on under the right floorboard (see attachment) and a screen in the return line. If you follow the return line from the pump to the trans there is a flange with three screws, you have to remove this flange and a screen will be underneath. Clean this screen and replace. Under the seat there is a cap roughly an 1.5" in diameter which is the filler hole and near it is a yellow rubber cap that has the dipstick attached to it.
You can get an operators manual for it, I recently saw one on Ebay that was translated, I have a parts manual (that I bought from Hoye) that helps you visualize most things.
I got all my filters from NAPA but Hoye can help you out with these also.
