How frustrating. There are a lot of stories on 8N spark problems, but no notable solution Ive been able to dig up. I wonder If the igniton switches go flakey. ... There must be some key common issue that eludes. Good luck with it, and your knee.

I don't have a photo for you but I use a helper step too. I found one on the interstate at the scene of a truck wreck. It is a "D" shaped Aluminum step about 12" in back and maybe 10" in the front. Mine hangs from short lengths of chain maybe 10" long in 3 places. That way when I am in the wood lot when it hits something it just swings out of the way. If what you make is too low and solid, nothing good will happen if you hit something solid.
