My 1500 spits oil vapour out from around the gear shifter boot, the vent on top of the diff housing is clear so i thought i would try this. it is only an oil filter but they are cheap, i have seen them used on hydraulic tanks as breathers. the boot is soft and has the clip on it to retain it in place so i dont know why it does it but anyway, we will see if this works. i used a worm clamp to secure it to the mudguard bracket.

If you are spitting oil vapor out from around the shifter, (the boot is only a dust cover), the trans has to be pressurized either from overfilling or a plugged vent.

I have seen others comment on this, mine is not overfilled nor is the vent blocked. the hydro/trans oil that was used in it was unknown so i have now replaced it with the known, everything now appears OK so i will see if the oil change and breather work as it only cost $10 to do it.
