That's a funny response.

class 3 guns aren't any more a lawsuit in progress than any other firearm.

people that are scared of guns shouldn't be around them.

the paperwork is not expensive.. unless you consider 200$ a deal killer. The cost on class 3's has been climbing steadily for a while.. but entry level guns are still quite affordable.. easilly under a couple G's . With mid grade guns costing a few G's.. and from there, depending on the weapon, shy's the limit, based on what type of arm you want.

I'd like to point out that if you look at crime statistics with class 3 weapons dating to when registration started and the NFA papered those guns way way back.. the incedents of unlawfull us is quite low.. single digits. and if you look at those couple of incedents of lawfully owned guns, misused, you will see that the owner of 1 of those was a LEO :)

Papered gun owners are among the most law abiding citizens period.. proof verifiable... look it up..

to say otherwise is a scare tactic, or myth...

You are probably right; what the heck was I thinking listening to people who use weapons for a living and train others who do so.

As a side note, I have seen people who used their weapons legally and got the snot sued out of them.

I am not going to get into yet another argument with you, so I am out of this thread.

Assault shotguns, usually, in most patrol cars if they carry a long gun.

Well every car had a shotgun even then, but I think a lot of them carry a rifle too now. I know I would sure want one, and looking back on it, why in heck didn't we have one even then. (late 70's)

I think the shotgun route is chosen because it doesn't travel as far or through as much so less of a chance of innocent getting hit. They may have rifles, too, but from the back seat, I've never noticed them :)

The Rifles are needed in hostage and barricade standoff situations. They are normally kept in the trunk where as a back seat passenger you would not see them:)

Yes, I felt threatened at 4 AM one morning about 10 years ago. I am a sound sleeper but was awoken by what sounded like my front door being broken into. I jumped out of bed, grabbed my .45 and headed toward the living room. As I rounded the corner I saw a figure looking in my front door window. In the dimly lit living room (we leave a night light on) he saw me and the .45 and his eyes got big as saucers. He backed up only to find himself within 10' of my now barking dog who had come out of the garage attached to his 30' leash.
Turned out it was a State Trooper who hadn't got an answer by lightly knocking so he started pounding on the door to get us up. The pounding got us all up including the dog.
It seems there had been some burglaries on my street and as he was driving by he saw my garage door was open about 6" and he decided to check to see if we were OK and if I knew the door was open. I told him I knew the door was open 6" and it was locked in that position so the dog could go in and out.
After seeing me, my .45, and the dog he said I guess you shouldn't have any break in worries. He apologized for waking us and left. I think he may have had to change his shorts.

everything in my previous post is 100% verifiable.

class 3 guns are legal ( depending upon state ).

they range from cheap to expensive.

Paperwork is no more work than a standard 4473, and some fingerprints, and a couple hudred bucks for the tax stamp on a form 4 tax paid transfer, plus up to 90 days wait time.

if you don't own any class 3 guns, then look into it. the info is out there. I *DO* own class 3 guns, and am very familiar with the paperwork.

the incedent of unlawfull use of a legally registered fire arm is almost -0- since registration began. Don't believe me.. check it out... like the Xfiles said.. " the truth is out there "

Looking at a cross section of the populace, people that hold concealed weapon permits are among the *MOST* law abiding citizens there are, including the law enforcement population.

Again.. FBI crime stats show this... check it out!

As for someone getting sued using a class 3 weapon.. I'm sure it has happened. Many states don't have strong victom's rights laws, if the cases you speak of were that situation. IE a victom used a class 3 gun in self defense. In those cases all I can say is.. If a state has weak self defense laws.. it probably matters little what weapon you used to defend yourself. you might be getting sued anyway. Thankfully florida and a few other states have strong self defense laws that sheild innocent victoms from civil prosecution when they defend themselves.

As far as using a class 3 weapon as a self defense weapon? IMHO.. just due to our culture and whatnot, a class 3 would be my absolute last choice for self defense. I'd choose any other weapon I could adequately defend myself with before choosing a class 3. If it was my only choice. IE.. class 3 or die? well.. I'd be using the class 3.

No argument.. just a discussion.

I'm pretty sure that the case around here, I don't know for sure, but whenever there is a news storey of a police response to a serious crisis, they are all shown walking around with M-16 clones. For awhile when they first started carrying full autos, it was sub guns like the mp types. but it's all HP rifle now. I don't even see the shotguns anymore.

I hear them at the police range, cooking off large amounts of ammo, they are well prepared that's for sure. In fact almost to well prepared, Sept. 11 changed alot of things and one big change is the militarization of law enforcement. I'm not so sure that is necessarily a good thing, some refer to them as Robocops. Shoot first, ask questions later.

I think a full auto would be a great self defense weapon, especially if you were under siege like Tony Montana in Scarface :)

But I agree the chance of a lawsuit going against you would be greater due to their political incorrectness.

I hope to never be in a situation, where my only hance for survival was a full auto weapon. that would signal a very bad situation was happening. Like an invasion or something. :)

Hopefully just some well placed small arms fire will do it.. :)

in the end though.. I'd rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6 ....

I don't think it would take an invasion to appreciate a full auto weapon for self defense.

Really just 2 or 3 well armed bad guys would be enough of a challenge, even for a proficient shooter to warrant the need.

Just go to your gun safe and pull one out...

Not my safe, but I wish it was :licking:
