Several days ago I read a news story about the billions of dollars worth of military style firearms Homeland Security has given to local Law Enforcement across the nation...very troubling if you ask me...and yes it looks like our local law enforcement is being militarized...pretty slick way to get around the prohibition of the US military being used domestically.

Are we all just a bunch of frogs sitting in warm water....? Will we jump out and make them stop before the water boils and it is too late....? Only time will tell.

I've also heard that the Feds have been distributing black helicopters. And,
9/11 was planned by Obama and all his terrorist friends as a ruse to push gun control.

Merry Christmas to all conspiracy theorists.

Good Afternoon Oleozz,
Good to hear you on !

Actually only once when I was a young fella exciting a shady establishment, nasty old bar, in a very bad neighborhood...

I was followed out by three MC undesirables, they were pretty intent on doing me some real bodily harm ! :(

The good Lord cameto my rescue, not in the form of a pistol. but three huge football jocks that I casually knew, and they werent going to stand for me getting beat to a pulp ! :) At 5' 10" and 180 lbs, Im not exactly going to scare anyone away with my physical presence ! ;)

At 60 I no longer frequent those type of establishments, infact I havent for almost 40 years now ! :) Thats how I got to be 60 !

Last year I did get mt Ct CCP, when Im at my Vt home I dont need one, but cant carry a concealed weapon !

To this date I have not bought a pistol but have looked at many... too many to choose from I guess, Im kind of thinking a 40 cal semi but not sold on any yet ! My police officer buddies like the Sig, but we will figure it out eventually !

Unfortunately in my Ct home town, breakins are rampant, just had one two days ago about two miles from here ! Even the Ct home is semi rural, so Im thinking its just bout time to get some protection ! All my rifles and shotguns are in Vt, so no help down here. Im also thinking along the lines of one of those fnger safes, to keep the pistol away from anyone that wonders into our bedroom...

Just some ramblings of a semi old man ! :)

Merry Christmas !

Merry Christmas to you Island Tractor...I sure hope you are right...I really do..I am not a conspiracy theorist but rather a realist...I see our liberties, we once enjoyed and unfortunately took for granted , being eroded on almost a weekly basis. Law after law, regulation after regulation coming from the Feds eroding states rights and the Feds. selectively choosing which laws and what parts of the Constitution they choose to enforce...I am concerned..

If I am wrong please tell me where I am misguided..I saw on the news today that the TSA agents confiscated a woman's cupcake because the frosting could be construed as a gel.....Huh ? This is not what America is or was about !

Thanks, I'm definitely one

Always thought there is more than meets the eye, or whatever that saying is.

An old timer once told me "don't believe anything you hear and only half of what you see and you will never be lied to".

I'm not sure about the validity of this "news" site but this does bolster what brin has pointed out.

My response is that Jefferson was making the same predictions two hundred years ago and we seem to have survived that interval with core liberties intact. There will (and I think should) always be tension between the States Rights and Federalist sides. We need and do best with a balance, not a system based on pure ideology.

So, again, a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all my conservative, gun toting, Fox News believer, States Rights advocate TBN buddies. Even to those who drive the wrong color tractors!

Scotty, the Dallas PD currently issues P226 Sigs in the 9mm. I have a P229DAK (slightly smaller) that I qualify with, but when I carry, it's almost always my old S&W Chief (5 shot .38 spl). I still prefer revolvers for their simplicity and dependability, although my Sig has never malfunctioned. A 40 cal is probably a good choice for many, but how much are you going to practice and how much more will the 40 cal ammo cost over 9 mm?

Island....I gotta say there seems to be a mean spirited, name calling aura around your posts...I have noticed that same behavior from leftist talking heads on the TV News...the leftists always have a big smile on their face and it serves as cover for the ridiculous ugly comments they make toward anyone who dares to express their conservative views and they always interrupt them and talk over the conservatives who are always too polite to make them stop...Each to his own..

Hi scotty, I agree with Bird, there's alot to be said for a simple wheel gun.

I love all the high capacity combat grade pistols, but for that once in a lifetime chance of a bump in the night, a quality .38 special revolver may be your best bet.

Plus don't forget it was right here in CT that the modern day revolver was first made.
A young merchant marine observed the ship's wheel and refined the idea.

There's a statue of Samuel Colt in Hartford, carving the components of a revolver out of wood.

The target loads that most folks would be shooting a lot of are the same price for 40 cal or 9mm. At least in the stores I go tho they are. I shoot 40s, but would not hesitate to have a 9mm either. I just like having one ammo for multiple guns.

That topic has been debated to death with no resolve as to which is better. I think both are good choices. Just pick what you like and carry it.

I think you are taking my jibes a bit too seriously. I generally tolerate the stupid dittohead smears on the president or "left" so you guys need to be a little less sensitive when it comes the other way.

By the way, the holiday greetings are sincere as was my point that the debate process leading to compromise between Jeffersonian and Hamiltonian ideals is best for our country.
