Never tried to buy 2x tubing...

Would you know call out for the tubing you used and a ballpark price for a given length.

Metal tends to very expensive in my part of the Bay Area... a lot less manufacturing now.

2"x4" x 30' tubing runs about $45.50 per joint. 4"x4" x (1/4" wall) x24' runs about $110.00 each.

Post mix sakrete $3.90 per 80# bag.

A few more framing pics.

Attaching fram to the tail end of the rafters. The top of side metal will attach to this part.

Appreciate the info... I have a carport that has 3 times suffered wind damage over 37 years... I built it in 1980... get some real strong gusts in the 80+ mph range every blue moon...

Did you do anything special to shore up or stabilize the shipping container it attaches to? I have a 20' container that I could possibly do the same thing with. But it just sits on the ground on top of a few 4x4 treated posts running cross ways.

I built a pad for it and it sits on crossties and the ties are filled to grade between them. Reason for the pad is so I could get it high enough that I can get the tractor under the shed. The narrow end is to the North and the house protects it from the wind from the south and west. Hardly ever get wind from the east. I depend on the weight to hold it down.

When the steel super structure is finished does in need a coat of paint or is that overkill?

You could paint it if you wanted to. It is what we call "red iron" and it will not be exposed to the weather. I am having to work on it as the weather allows me to, cold or windy or both. So, no , I don't plan to paint it.

This looks fantastic. How far apart are the rafters? How do you attach the OSB to them for the roof?

The rafters are on 2' centers. I attached the OSB to the rafters with 16 self-tapping flat head screws per sheet. About 38 sheets.

Looks a lot bigger then I expected with the siding on. That's going to be nice.
