I see the lack of light as a problem as far as face recognition. Even the best security cameras need a bright light source

Hmm, they had their title to the trailer, right? They went to the seller and identified their trailer (SN/VIN, etc.) and called the Sheriff and State police and they refused to respond? Something doesn't sound right. A citizen can file a complaint - and they get a copy (if they ask) when they sign and file it. Did you read the complaint? Or is this 'a story' they tell?

All 3 tractors have battery isolation switches. They come that way from the factory.

Nothing and everything. Isolators in not conspicuous locations are yet another layer of 'security' protection, real or imagined and yes you are paranoid. You openly wear your paranoia in comments on here. You and your program and mine differ and I'll leave it at that.

Tractors without battery isolators are more easily stolen or taken for a joy ride or whatever, whereas on with an isolator cannot start thus cannot be moved. I installed mine for over wintering but they do have a secondary benefit as well.

Never been an issue here and not with me downsizing, never gonna be an issue.

I have Eufy cams at my house, mostly so I can get a see-my-cats fix when I'm not at home.
We also have Eufy cams for security at a rental.
They're really good with motion detection, night or day, light or dark. Really dark.

My recommendation, spending your money:

• Put a couple cams on a pole mounted to the tractor's cab so it's got the best view (they're intended to be mounted under a soffit in general)
• Grease the pole or have a hot wire on it... voltage and amperage up to you.
• Cellular ISP (I pay $35/mo for home ISP over cellular)
• Eufy HomeBase unit which nonstop saves videos to disk (whatever disc you put in there, probably an SSD)

If they trashed the cams, the recording is still on the homebase unit; you'd get alerts if there's something happening (if there's cell service).

You could do without the cellular ISP and still have the full video on the homebase unit; hide the homebase (it's small) and the ISP unit (also small) somewhere on the tractor.

As far as power in a battery: a 750cca battery likely has about 75Ah, which might be as much as 800Wh; it's not a lot to be honest. If you're running 50W of stuff overnight - say 10 hours (that's 50W*10h = 500Wh), that battery isn't going to start anything the next morning. If you're wanting to run stuff overnight you may also want to add another battery to the system.

Honestly they are good neighbors, but I can't get a word in edgewise when I interact (listen to) them. Not worth the effort to ask more details. All I know is what was said... as I said. Apparently the guy's been in trouble with the cops before. They went to the seller?? Really, would you think that would be a good idea? No they didn't go to the seller but apparently recognized the trailer in the MP ad.

Maybe that is so in NY, but there are states where if you are following the law you can use the necessary force to protect your property and self.

There are also a bunch of cellular game cam options as well.

That's about what we use. We live rurally so don't have cellular service.... but then that limits the amount of vandals too. We did catch a thief pawning some stolen firearms, but the local sheriff recognized him as a juvenile and said that tied their hands.

A few years ago we got a couple of IR/motion detection game cameras just to see what goes on at the edges of the property. Rechargeable battery and chip card type. A tractor battery would power one forever, but frankly the internal battery lasts well enough. A chip easily stores the data. It's pretty easy to figure where one should face. The resolution and broad focus is amazing.

There are higher tech solutions, but that would be a place to start.

Like I said before little fella, my tractors came with isolators. You had to install them on yours, primarily because you don’t own AG tractors that were meant to be left in fields. You keep yours in your she shed, where nobody will bother them. Mine are in 3 different parts of 3 different counties at any given time.

Never been an issue here and not with me downsizing, never gonna be an issue.

Maybe you can downsize your way off this thread and troll someone else?

I am extremely leery of that site. Here have been my observations:

- There is a constant marketing push to buy from "Andy" at "EmpireTech." But, last I knew, "Andy" sources Chinese cameras, (usually Dahau brand), then inserts different firmware into the camera to claim added "special" features. Are you comfortable anyone doing that? I am not. What additional "special features" is he adding over and above those they advertise?
- One of the members always provides glowing reviews, thousands of posts, praising the products. Same member over and over. If you look at the site that member is easy to spot. Although a different member name provides the posts, I believe this is either "Andy," or an employee.
- A few members, after purchasing such products, have posted about discovery of viruses or spyware. Those posts are relentlessly ridiculed, attacked, then later the thread gets deleted. The one attacking against reports of malware is the same member who provides the glowing reviews.
- I am quite confident, from personal experience, that at least some cameras purchased there have backdoor reporting to China.

Make your own decisions. I cannot offer proof, only my observations. But I am extremely leery of the site.

Well, I have been a member of that site for going on 10 years. I have no issues with Andy or his cameras. All of the EmpireTech cameras are private labeled for him by Dahua. He doesn't attempt to hide that fact. Yes, his version of the firmware activates many things inside of the Dahua cameras that are already built in, just the stock Dahua firmware doesn't allow those features to be turned on. Andy's prices are much better, service is much better and I can contact him directly by e-mail if I have a question about setup or a new feature in the firmware. Response time is a few minutes to a few hours, depending on what time it is in Hong Kong. Try to get that type of service out of a big box store or internet retailer.

Andy also uses several of the guys on the site to field test Dahua brand cameras for Dahua R&D also, up to a year before the cameras have a street sale date. I know the guys that are writing reviews. Not all of the reviews are positive. There have been some cameras reviewed with multiple firmware updates, that were just failures for one reason or another and Andy never released those models for sale. The reviewers are all retired techs and electronic/electrical engineers. If ET was trying to phone home in the background, they would know it. I would know it on my cameras. I check my network logs regularly and there has never been an instance in 9 years of any of my cameras attempting to ping an unknown IP address or send packets of data to an unknown IP address. I own EmpireTech private label, Dahua branded and Hikvision branded cameras. I own 35 cameras in all. (Yeah, I know, I have an addiction problem......)

I have seen a couple of the complaints where a poster states they had a virus or spyware was in the firmware update. Come to find out, they either didn't use Andy's firmware updates or they installed the wrong version of firmware for that camera model number or even the wrong camera model number firmware. That usually is what causes the cameras to brick. Some even bought gray market cameras on e-bay and then claimed them to be EmpireTech cameras. A quick check of the serial number resolved those issues. The owner of IPCT will only let those type posts stay up for so long and then he either closes the posting to those threads, or removes them all together if the OP gets belligerent. Andy has 1 employee in the US. He is out of PA. He runs the US warehouse.

All of my cameras are intentionally installed on their own isolated network with their own dedicated POE++ switches and a digital NVR software running on a dedicated PC with no internet access. I don't do "cloud computing". So, no, I am not worried about ET phoning home.

I talked to a couple vendors, but they want insane $ to do the work.
I’ll have to find something I can install myself, but electronics, WIFI, bluetooth, et al is not my strong suit.
I need something I can peel & stick inside the cab, turn on the button and sync with my phone, or I’m paying one of the “Greek Squad” clowns $100/hour.
