Engine won't stay running

I have a 2004 JD 2210. It has been a great tractor -- no issues at all. Yesterday it was running fine. Today, it is not. It starts okay, but as soon as I release the key from the starter position, the engine quits. IF I continue to hold the key in the start position, the engine will run fine. I have tested the switch and it is okay. HELP!!!

Check to make sure the fuel shut off valve is open. I once had mine shut off by brush. It wasn't totaly closed, but enough to cause problems.

As planman8 suggests, look at/around/about the fuel shutoff solenoid.
Do you have the tech manual? That is good for tracking down as well as learning how things work under the hood.

A search on TBN of this solenoid will give you some good info from previous discussions too.

Did a search "2210 solenoid" as suggested by beenthere and I found this that indicated it was a fuse. You might want to run the search as well, there maybe others, if you have not already done so. Also included is the JD parts URL if you have not already found it.

I have a 2210 that is not getting any fire and therefore will not start. Last week I replaced the battery and all the filters getting it ready for the spring mowing season. Yesterday I shut it off to take a break when I came back out it will not start. Someone told it was the ignition switch so I replaced that today $70 and still nothing! I have check all of the fuses I can find I am at a dead end. Any suggestions would be appreciated

After hours of tracing every wire finally found the issue.....a bad ground wire.

This is the first problem I've had with this tractor; its been a great one!

We're glad you found the problem but for the rest of us, where was the bad ground wire???? Battery ground????

Yes. I just replaced that wire when I replaced the battery, but didn't get it tight enough.

I have a 2005 5500 it seem like it's not getting enough fuel when I up the rpms white smoke come out of exhaust pipe and won't to stop running
