Engine won\'t shut off

Quite a few people have run into the problem that their tractor won't shut off when they move the throttle to the all the way off position. In some cases the fix for this is to lubricate the linkage connection. On my 186 the foot throttle the hand throttle and the rod that goes forward to the injector pump meet at a pivot point. There is a plastic friction disk that could be checked for wear and cleaned. There is a return spring that could be checked. You can shut off the engine, if this is the problem, by pushing the rod to the pump forward in my case. I found a blast of WD 40 helps.

And don't forget that many tractors, like mine, have a key stop fuse. That's something that should be checked as well.
