I'm wondering if I should put synthetic engine oil in my TC35D for it's 50 hr service. The reason I ask is that my Subaru seemed to have trouble breaking in when I started with syn oil right from the start. Basically it consumed (never did see smoke or drops on the floor) about 1 qt of oil every 7500 miles all the way till 45,000 miles. On a hunch I tried regular oil for the next oil change and my oil consumption totally stopped. So what do you people think, will my engine be broken in enough?

Nope. Try about 150 hours.

paccorti,

I mentioned switching to syn to my NH dealer and he and a service guy suggested waiting until 100 or even 150 hours so that the engine would be properly broken in. The 150 mark is also the # I've read on this board.

Good Luck, JimBinMI
