I have been looking at electromagnetic and ultrasonic devices to chase away mice from house and garage. There are great testimonials from the advertisers, and all sorts of claims, but the government agencies say these devices don't work for their intended purpose which is as a rodent repellent. Any experience out there??

In my experience, the government is right for once.

The only way electricity can repel a rodent is if you stick one wire in its mouth and the other wire up its *** and then flip on the breaker.

I tried an ultrasonic device to get rid of mice in our 2006 Honda CRV. It did not work.

We found the Tin Cat trap worked well:

We would get up to 6 mice over night and averaged about 3. It was a bad year for mlce and our old cat could not keep up.

The dealer fixed the problem by installing screens on 2 vents.

I tried several different sonic pest control devices in several different situations and I am convinced that a piece of sprung hard wire is much more effective

Send me your address, I'll send you the one my wife bought...for postage. :(

Give me a couple spring traps anyday, I'll reduce their numbers.

I bought one and did a scientific test with it.

I put out a bait tray right beside it and it didn't take long before the bait was gone. Possibly the sonic noise was like rap music to him and helped him eat. Get the cheapy traps. Why waste electricity and mouse food.

The tin cats do work, I'm still waiting for my Mouse bucket with the peanut butter in the can to work? maybe my mice left?

when we still farmed we had 5 gallon plastic buckets filled with about 4'' of water in the bottom some had holes in the lid just large enough for passage others had a spinning broomhandle that would drop them when they ventured onto it, not hard to build but smelly to cleanup though

Some machines marketed as ultrasonic pest control devices actually give off electromagnetic fields that supposedly reach rodents buried deep within your walls. Unfortunately, electromagnetic fields have been identified as a potential cancer-causing agent, In addition, there is little proof that these fields actually deter rodents. When buying an electronic rodent control device, ensure that the device youæ±*e getting is a genuine ultrasonic pest repeller to avoid wasting money on an ineffective rodent control device.
