Electric Chainsaw Suggestions

I have a 18 inch poulan electric that I use around the house. It seems to have good power and I've cut down a tree with it that was about a foot diameter. It is definitely LOUD - kinda a loud high pitch whine that hurts my ears more than a gas model. Ear protection is a must. Can't remember what I paid for it but I think is was pretty cheap.

If it is a poulan 400E 400ES I did a chain on one of those the other day and it was very impressive to me. Says 4hp on the side and reminds me of a 0-49cc gas chainsaw (if you was running 3/8LP chain on one).

What about the Stihl rechargables? Looks like a great system. Flexible too, chainsaws to mowers and trimmers are all available.

If you're using it within range of a plug, you're much better off to go corded. Even with the advancements in battery capacity, you're still using a limited power source compared to an endless supply.

I use a Milwaukee Sawzall 24 volt battery saw.

While pricey, this high quality tool really does the job on anything up to 2" diameter and is much safer to use than a chain saw.

Blades are cheap and quick to change.

I have a gas Stihl too, for felling. Use the Sawzall for trimming branches before chipping.

One battery pack lasts an entire day in the woods.

I cut this 10" limb with the 20 volt cordless.


I use the one hander for smaller branches .

We bought a 14" Earthwise at Aldi Foods last year for $40. The same one at Amazon is like $67. We've used it a few times, it works fine so far.
