Driveway Culvert width

   / Driveway Culvert width #21
Our driveway opens to 15', with another 15' total (7.5' on each side) of space. There are rocks immediately after that.

53' truck has no problems getting in/out of the road, which is a narrow 2-lane road.

In addition, I haul my boat which is about 40' on the trailer behind my CCSB truck, so I'd guess that is about ~62ft total length.

40' sounds like a reasonable "apron" area.

As I drew it a 53 foot truck could get in and out without crossing over the centerline of the main road. In low traffic volume areas where swinging wide into the opposing lane is not hazardous you can get by with less. Also the ditch line can be moved back further from the main road to reduce the amount of culvert needed. If you extended the ditch all the way back to where the turning radii become tangent with the drive you would only need 28 feet of culvert for one foot of cover. But if your drive comes downhill in cut you would not be able to do that.
