so, when i got me 2400, the PO had seemingly slipped back with a full bucket, and dumped the load on the hood --

-- well, i have since replaced the hood to correct his rattle-can nightmare --

:|

can someone tell me how he did it? it it an easy error to make?

THANKS!

eric

On my L4400 the bucket doesn't curl back all that far to begin with. With a level load in the bucket you'd have to have the loader all the way up and hit a good bump to get anything to come back on the tractor. With a heaping load it is a lot easier to happen. But still nowhere near the whole load. I've dumped some sand on the hood before, but nothing that did any damage.

But, if you have a loader with a good amount of curl on it, in other words the bucket load is level when the loader is just off the ground, then raising the main boom to max height is going to have that bucket tilting back a good ways toward the tractor. So be careful.

I easily dented my hood when I stacked firewood above the top of the bucket. The dynamics of tractor movement can sometimes overcome gravity

Eric - I have dumped manure back onto my hood when I drove the front wheels up onto the side of the manure pile to gain extra height before bumping. I think you could also create a similar situation with some sort of drive-up ramp, again to gain extra height. Rusty

You would think that one or two times would be sufficient for me to learn what happens when I am raising a bucket full of snow/sand/dirt/rock while backing up and then stop quickly. The hood on my L3400 shows that I am a very slow learner......

My tractor has a picture of a big round ball launched from the bucket at the operator
