Drawbar Stabilizer?

I had been using a Tisco brand drawbar stabilizer to stop the rotation of the drawbar between the two lift arms. It was a neat little thing that slipped over one liftarm and you slid the drawbar through it. Now that my new B2910 has the telescoping lift arms (which I love) I cannot use the stabilizer. Does anyone know of something similar to use whith the telescoping arms? I may just have to fabricate a brace myself. Any ideas? BTW, I use this with a 2 5/16 ball to move our horse trailer and flatbed trailer around. I have a 1 7/8 ball on the swinging drawbar for the little 12 foot trailer.

bsauter, it depends on how much money you want to spend. Northern Tool has an adapter to turn your 3-point hitch into a 2" receiver for hitch heads. It's real neat, but costs about $200. I did a little cutting, drilling, welding, and bolting and made my own low budget model.

Bird, I have seen that from Northern and it does look nice but too pricey for as much as I will use it. I think I will be going the same route as you.

scruffy, I don't have any pictures of mine. I just bought one of the straight drawbars that fits between the two lower links, bolted and welded strap iron to make the tower to the top link and to make a straight bar to the rear for the hitch ball. I don't have the square 2" receiver like the high dollar rigs; instead I use a convert-a-ball (single shank, but can quickly change to any of 3 ball sizes).

Hm-m-m, sounds like a simple, doable fix. It also sounds as if you could easily change the flat stock for the hitch ball with a flat plate mounted two inch receiver. I've got a wide assortment of 2" receiver items, (except for the plate mounted receiver itself - which Harbor Freight has) so I think I found another project to add to my list.

Yeah, scruffy, it'll be a real simple matter to add the 2" receiver to what I have if I ever need it. But I figured the convert-a-ball on the flat stock is plenty strong enough for what I've been using for so far. And not putting the receiver on there just keeps it that much lighter and easier for me to put it on the tractor or take it off.

Bird, I have several (4 or 5) receivers ball hitches for the two inch receiver with varying uses 2",4",6" dropdowns, 18" extension with step, carry-all, etc. The plate mounted 2" receiver (meant to bolt to bumper) would give me a wide range of ways to use the draw bar, not to mention towing either of my trailers around.

If all you guys can wait till this evening I will post some pictures of both a Drawbar Stabilizer, and a Gooseneck trailer hitch that couples to your tractor 3 point hitch. Just fininshed welding up the gooseneck rig. I built the simple drawbar stabilizer years ago and works well.

The pyramid is heavy wall 1" square tubing, at the bottom welded flat iron to tubing with holes drilled to bolt it to drawbar. Figured I may want to take it off somtime for something but haven't removed it since I put it on 10 yrs. ago. The top is same flat iron bent & welded with holes drilled for toplink pin. Simple but effective. I keep a Trailer Ball in tool box on tractor to install if pulling bumper hitch trailer. Use drawbar as you see for hitching and pulling 2 hay wagons. Keeps the drawbar straight and easy to hitch, or unhitch. I use it for wagon hitchup instead of tractor drawbar because it keeps wagon frame further from tractor on sharp turns & backing a wagon with it seems easier. My wagon backing is "dubious" at best so I need all the help I can get. Hope some can use the idea. I will start another thread in ATTACHMENTS, with attached picture on the 3 PH Gooseneck rig for those interested.
