did anyone see the news today that Cheverolet told it's dealers to not refer to them as Chevy's? What are they thinking?

they're thinking that they want me to call my next truck a Ford:thumbsup: i'm done with GM as a company. i see no beneficial reason to ever buy another truck from them for awhile....if ever again. i can get just as good of a truck, if not better in some aspects, with a Ford then i can a Sierra/Silverado.

It they want to sell them in the USA then why put a French name on it. Chevy at least is spelled the way it sounds. :D

Calling it a Chevy is better marketing than calling it a Govt Mtrs vehicle.

Now, I could see GM having a problem with vehicles that were built at the now defunct NUMMI plant being referred to as Toyolets, but what about "Caddys" and "Vettes"? Why weren't they included in the memo too?

If you've noticed, Chrysler no longer sells Dodge trucks. They're all Ram trucks now, pretty much eliminated the Dodge name.

GM will have to get their spokesman, Howie Long, to change his speech pattern, if they follow through with this. The term is all over his script.

Trying to change common expressions like that is as hard as trying to correct grammar or spelling on a forum. Not too likely.

i guess Fiat felt the main thing that led to Chrysler filing for bankruptcy was it was calling their trucks Dodge instead of just Ram all this time. problem solved! sheer genious!

I seem to recall that Chevrolet did this back in the eighties too.

Different executives' ideas about "branding"...

No big deal.

after watching closely to some tv the last day or so, I see that their national advertisement shows that their website is CHEVY.COM, so I call BS on this rumour.

I think I read somewhere the Chevy thing had something to do with international sales and that they backed off the idea. My guess is GM decided they didn't want to mess with the brand it took 100 years to establish.

Sold the Echo last month and bought another Chevy. :D
