Our beloved rescue Shih Tzu Ace. We lost him to cancer a little over a year ago after having him for 10. He was found in a dumpster by a construction worker at a job site. He had been beaten, skull fractured, locked in a pet carrier and tossed in the trash.

Local pet hospital saved his life and he then went to the local no-kill shelter. We saw his story on local news and knew we had to have him.

From a few months ago and just making sure no one tries to take her new rawhide chew.

We had to ban rawhide in our house.

Our jack Russell tried to snake swallow one

I caught him before he got it all the way down and had to ease it back out.

If he had swallowed it whole, it would have surely been an expensive vet bill since it was almost as long as he was.

Yes, I understand.
People have to watch them chew and get rid of any little pieces. We only let ours chew in front of us and then not for long. She doesn't get them often and when she does, prefers to guard rather than chew.

Jackie was horrible. He would grab a thin one and immediately try to snake swallow the whole thing at once

We give our sweetheart Springer several buzz haircuts over the summer and she is so excited to get one. Rather than her beautiful long Springer Spaniel hair, she looks like a wet squirrel for a while. But after her haircut, she bounces around, runs circles around the barns and the tail wags double time.

I'm almost embarrassed to post her buzz cut photo but she said is was OK so here it is. Before and after.

Two or three dogs back, our grandson (age about 4) gave our Golden a rawhide chew he found in the cabinet. The chew had a red coloring and it stained the carpet. I wrote the manufacture about it and there was that there was a warning on the wrapper. I wrote back and told them that neither the child or dog was able to read the warning.

They paid to have the carpet cleaned.

Been a rough year.

This guy (Coal) was found on the side of the road about 400 yards down from the house with my wife and son when myself and my other son were out getting ice cream. Son spotted him in the back seat with my wife driving, and no way could she leave him.

Had to take him to the dreaded last vet visit yesterday at about age 12 on his end (the boy holding him in the pic is the one now in the Air Force).

Here he is with one of his best buddies, the hound dog, Huck (the smaller jack russell mix was taken to her last vet visit about 8 years go).

Huck had to take his last vet visit a couple of months ago due to old age as well. He was found by my other son and my dad about 12 years ago when they were out back hitting golf balls. He followed them home and decided never to leave.

We all go through it (loss of a good animal who you consider a part of the family) and in the end, I've come to the conclusion that the more it hurts, the more you loved.

Also happy that most of the dogs and cats in our lives probably had the best lives they could have hoped for if they weren't blessed enough to come into our lives by accident (and one could argue that a good pet actually blessed their masters life even more).

Every dog in our care always bring me laughter when I think about how they use to drive me up the wall with having to correct their their behavior when they first came into our home.

Coal as a puppy would bust out of the house and run 100 yards to the neighbors who would leave trash / food outside. Couldn't blame him being a dog, but it was a pain in the butt getting over (or walking around) the barbed wire fence to bring him back.
