Try to rehome after making full disclosure of him being reactive to other dogs? We're a little different there
Interesting dog, and out of all the dogs I've worked with, never have seen this type of behavior.
Severe anxiety complex when you leave the dogs presence (when I left him in the fence, tied off just so he can't escape). I've see that trait before, but never in a "loving happy go lucky dog" .
Dog was very "happy" to see me at the shelter, jumped right into the car. Kind of all over me.
Listens, and is very controllable 1 on 1 or even 2 or 3 on one with humans.
Throw another dog into the mix in his presence, and forget it.
Thing I've learned about dogs is that since they can't talk, you really have no clue as to their history.
Reality is he would make a good one dog owner very happy, but it's Russian roulette if he were ever to come into contact with another dog/animal. Only good thing is he weighs no more than 30 or so pounds soaking wet, he's very easy to control and pin with his collar if he goes off on another dog.
The shelter convinced me that being in a fenced in area with cold water and shade would be better for his last couple of days with us then the shelter environment, and probably happen to agree.
No need to apologize.I apologize for asking anything. The odds of rehoming a reactive dog are not that good these days with so many in the shelters.
Made our day!

yeah, I am not expecting her to be, she is already build strong and solid she was the biggest female of her litter ... it's my first shepherd, so its a new experience for me and it is already a interesting one, she is very brave, stubborn and smart, her bite force is already impressive we had to start working on that right away, and keep her from jumping off things, the little bugger loves feet and Achilles tendonsSure will be a wonderful partner in crime.... My latest Anatolians just hit 6 months and are both over 65#, not gonna be little.![]()
Just remember, crate training is your friend, particularly at that agebut in the morning she is something else... a real little menace ...
Great looking GSD. They require firmness and consistent commands. You'll be rewarded. They can be a handful, but worth it.She adopted me right away as her master I am glad about that, she has been good since day one, already asking for the door and sleeping like a princess all night since the first night but in the morning she is something else... a real little menace ...
thanks yes i love her dark coat. yeah I am finding that out … I really don’t want to miss the boat with her so I really try to do as little pressure as possible but as much as required to get the point across. The last thing want is a timid/ not confident or scared dog so I go with incremental pressure and I am consistent but she is making me go beyond what would usually be required, nothing seems to phase her, I have also varied my approaches because of that. The wife do the high pitch ouch when she bites her, it dose work for a second or two but not when I do it, lol either my timing is off or it’s not high pitch enough for her… anyhow she know it’s fake … I have seen some progress with known puppy training techniques for biting … it’s only been a few days so it’s a working process for now … it's really only a morning thing she is perfectly fine in the afternoon but we don’t let it happen regardless we discipline and redirect bad behaviors every time and reinforce good behaviors with consistency, i don’t see how it could not do a good dog. But I am definitely on my best behavior with her to make a good dog out of her … ps good thing she was one of the chill one out of the littler.Great looking GSD. They require firmness and consistent commands. You'll be rewarded. They can be a handful, but worth it.
Good looking dog. We give ours a buzz cut a few times during the summer and she just loves it. She runs around the yard until she's exhausted after every cut. Then it's back on the a/c vent.
and may not be too late for being around things that go boom.Just remember, crate training is your friend, particularly at that age![]()
