NO pto clutch in the two stage pressure plate will not move unless fingers are blocked down to remove pressure from springs.

this clutch was bought as a kit it has a friction disk that goes on the fly wheel and the one friction im most worried about is the friction that is in the clutch pack, how am i going to get it lined up?

Tx Jim is correct the PTO disc in the clutch pack will not move. In a perfect world it was assembled centered and you won't need to worry about it unless it has shifted during shipping. As far as lining up both discs you will need a pilot tool or make one yourself. I have used a wooden dowel wrapped with masking tape to the appropriate diameters of the pilot bearing and discs. If the PTO disc has shifted in the clutch assy you will need to release the spring tension to realign it. Without a clutch tool I have used the flywheel, removing it and having it on the bench top makes it easier. I assemble and line everything up using the original hardware then carefully disassemble to keep the PTO disc centered, then reinstall the flywheel and then the clutch assy.

so you are saying the friction disk is the pto ? and the disk i have in a bag is the transmission ? the clutch came with a alignment tool , so im hoping that when i install this thing this will work. thanks for the comment.

Typically yes, I do recall running into one that was the oposite but it's not the norm.

There may/should be some threaded holes in the clutch assembly on the same side as the fingers. Since this is a kit there may be some bolts already in those holes, maybe painted red, that are holding the clutch in the released position. If not, you may be able to thread some bolts into the holes and pull them down until the inner disk will indeed move.

The alignment tool should have two sets of splines. you insert the alignment tool in as far as it will go so that it will align both clutch disks and install the clutch.

BEFORE you remove the compression screws used for installation, the ones you inserted or the ones it came with, make sure the clutch is installed on the flywheel and all bolts are tight ... then remove the temporary bolts. Using this method will keep both disks in proper alignment while the pressure from the clutch is restored to the installed kit.

Your should now be ready to put the tractor back together.

BTW - I just did this today with a MF 240 and it worked just fine.
