I use a Galaxy Note3 for my drone flying. I have newer phones but I like a dedicated phone just for the Mavic, fits nicely in the case as well (Nanuk 920 from hardcases.ca, I like it better than my pelican cases)
This is the "more fly" package, comes with the Mavic, Controller (as does the regular package) plus two extra batteries (for a total of 3), extra props (4, so 6 total since the regular package comes with two), car charger to charge when out and about, charging hub (charges the batteries in sequence from most charged to least charged, to get you in the air sooner), shoulder bag (which I use for other stuff, since I like the hard case better), a battery to power bank adapter (lets you use a battery to charge your phone and the controller if needed, very handy). It's a nice bit of kit.

How would you compare the flight characteristics of the Mavic to, say, a Phantom 3A? That's a very interesting and versatile package you have there.

This is my first drone, so no idea but I love it, up to 7km range, up to 27min flight time (I've hit 23 min, but lots of altitude changes which eat battery), easy to fly (again, my first drone).
If it loses signal (I tested it by turning off the remote) it pops up to 30 metres (adjustable) and returns to home.

And this on the Mavic. The guy is quirky, but he does know drones. I watched a number of his videos as I was making my decision. I may actually upgrade to the Mavic. Looks very nice.

Counting on you here. Are you saying the Mavic is a better drone? If so in what regards?
Not arguing, just gathering info since Mogwild admits he has no other experience.

And I only have experience with the phantom 3 pro...which is a stable platform, millions (I assume) shipped and proven design. DJI is the leader and while you pay may a bit more, it's worth it IMHO.
