Do you have a drone?

I am glad I didn't jump on the bandwagon regarding drones. The powers that be up here just made new laws about them.
Can't fly higher than 90 meters/292.5'. Can't fly within 75 meters/243.75' of any structure or person.
I don't know what the fines are or who is going to enforce them. Besides how are they going to measure how far you are from structures etc.

The autel looks interesting for the price.

Bought a refurbished Drone, 4 extra props, 2 extra batteries, prop guards for $914. Comes with 4 extra props, 1 battery, charger, hard case.

I think there will be continuous legislative changes controlling Drones. I think the manifacturers will do their part to assist that control.

Autel already has a rebate of $150 to any owner of their Drone that gets a license to fly.

Their newest firmware update also now has a "log" program that records and stores every flight. I'm certain it would record height.

Freedom has a price. We can't just keep banning things because they might be used wrongly. Go after the criminal not the tool.

Hello all! Just joining in on this thread after Richard (ovrszd) pointed me in this direction. I've had a small cheap drone for a couple years, but last week I finally stepped up to a 'real' drone when I purchased a used DJI Phantom 3 Advanced. Wow, is this thing amazing! Hopefully you guys (and gals) can teach me a few things along the way.

Great choice!

Yeah, if goin with DJI that would have been my choice. Great "value" drone. :)
It is now! I have a Phantom 3 Adv and love it... but I paid near full price soon after they came out.

To Fordman... I ended up buying a 'suitcase' for it and the rest of the stuff. Need to get it up in the air some more... the rains have been constant! If you don't have the blade guards, I recommend them. I saw one review that says it only took 15 minutes to install them. Not sure if there are different styles but once you install the mounts... the guards easily snap on/off in seconds. These might be the ones I got except I went all white. Red/White might help some that want to know which way the drone is facing. In hindsight, that might have been a good idea that I ignored.

I've been thinking about a suitcase for it. I want to take it with us when we go on camping trips and get arial photos of various areas, so I think that's likely a good idea for me. On the prop guards, I haven't been courageous enough to get close to trees yet (I fly at 200' to ensure I avoid them :)), but I will probably add those in the near future. What suitcase did you get?

As for prop guards, my neighbor broke two props self landing. Too much drift and tipped the props into the ground.

Suitcase was one of the Autel selling points.

I use the auto-land feature on mine. It's much better at landing than me. :) But yeah, that's a good point.

Mine should show up today. My productivity the rest of this week will bottom out......

I plan to use auto land as well. :)
