Got the part in the mail today. It took literally 15 minutes for me to change it out, however I must not have correctly lined up the plastic moulded retainer clips that hold the clamshell pieces together after the screws are removed as suggested by K0ua. It is not tightly put together at the bottom. I will try it again tomorrow as it started to get dark.

There was no visual corrosion or any signs of water damage. I think the part was just bad. The new one works great. I can't tell it if is the old style or new one some of you have spoke of. It does not close when I pull the key out so it might be the older style.

I have heard the new one closes. If yours don't tell your dealer you want the cover for it.
