differential lock shaft seal HELP

I am buying a 455 john deere later this week...the dealer gave me the option of buying as is or buying it already repaired. It could save me atleast a couple hundred dollars but they haven't got back with me on the final numbers. Based on what they told me I believe it needs a differential lock shaft seal. How hard is this to replace? Thanks.

I just did mine last summer. It is not a difficult job or expensive part but you should set an afternoon aside for the project.

I elected to drop the transaxle to reach the seal instead of trying to get my fat fingers in the limited space between the frame, plumbing and linkages. In either case you need to remove the seat and fenders.

Read the TM a couple of times before you start and you should be fine.

when you say TM are you referring to a manual? If so I don't have one. What other seals should I replace while I have the transaxle out?
