Can any one tell me which would be better. A forward turning tiller or a reverse turning tiller. Looking at either a landpride rta 1250 or rtr 1250 for a kubota 2370.

Thanks

If you have a lot of rocks;you want them going out the back and not binding up the tiller.

If it is turning forward it will climb over a stump or large roots stone rocks etc. I have had a lot of tillers but one with six cutters instead of four does much better job IMHO.

my opinion, reverse tillers are good for lawn renovation, for field work go with forward till.

It's going to be used in gardens and we have no rocks to worry about.

I have had the Land Pride rtr05 for about 4yrs now. It is a reverse tiller. Basically this means that the tines rotate opposite to the direction if travel. They typically do a better job of tilling than a forward tiller. I use mine behind a bx2360. I like it and it has never let me down. I do find that rocks larger than a melon tend to get jammed between the tines and the housing. Make sure you set the clutch properly to prevent damage.

Would it ve a safe guess that you have the 50" model? After running that machine with your tractor do you feel it maxes out your tractor or could you run a 5' model?

I have an 8hp Troy Bilt tiller. It has reverse rotating tines. It does not leave as smooth a surface on one pass. It is easier to break virgin ground with a reverse rotating tiller. Forward rotation will tend to jump over things - reverse rotation will tend to bring things up to the surface. I prefer reverse rotation.
I use this tiller each spring to prepare my 100' x 75' garden.

Behind a tractor forward tines work just fine and the dust is heading in the right direction.

Land pride has a video on their YouTube channel that shows the difference. I'd link it to you but I'm on my phone.
