Buying Advice Diesel smog emission stuff?

This may not have occurred to you but why don't you just buy an older tractor before all the electronics came out? We bought a 80s model JD tractor, 80hp engine for 5,500 bucks, runs good but leaks a bit of oil. Put 5,000 more in all the seals, and maybe even a engine overhaul and you got a great tractor for nothing compared to the new stuff and no electronic junk to deal with.

Because used prices went freaking insane. We looked for close to a year this is a perfect example of what we found.

That would be a reasonable price for that 790 here, and that's the worst part.

I'm told there are some Mahindra tractors with greater than 25hp that run clean enough to eschew dpf. I don't know which models, but it might be worth looking into.

Yup, and again, in some markets that's more than a fair price.

What would that have been pre-COVID? $6k? Things sure changed quick.

Just to put out an opinion here, I would not own a tractor, or big truck that you had to add DEF, or any thing to in order to run it. Just fuel and go, change oils and filters, nothing more. I got an old Freightliner, would not trade it for a new one either. The company I used to work for has a bunch of newer trucks an the DEF costs are HIGH! Me? No cost at all and I get the same mileage as they do, don't smoke either.

Mahindra is a bad word on TBN

After my experience with not being able to get dealer service this year, Mahindra is a non-starter for me.
