Folks like Maddow, Olberman, Beck, O'Rielly, Limbaugh, etc. are NOT news...they're entertainment. Shows that lean excessively to the left or right are put on the air because their argumentative/combative natures attract viewers and sell ad spots. A person would do well not to put any more stock in these shows than the limited entertainment value they possess.

This is the smartest statement made on this site in a year.

Diesel is at $4.25 here. Getting awfully expensive to fill up my skid steer.:(

/ diesel prices #84
Diesel is $3.999 in SW Virginia. I'm sure that once they put a "4" in the far-left position, it won't change for a while...

/ diesel prices #85
We are up to $4.099 in central MN. Up a dime from yesterday at my nearest station. I have half a tank full in all my vehicles so I hope it doesn't go any higher before I need a fill. I don't expect prices to go down any until the fall; too much demand for our oil abroad.

Just remember it was Stephen Chu, current Secretary of Energy, who said, "We have to figure out how to boost gasoline prices so that they [Americans] are paying the same price as Europeans".

Here in UK Green Diesel (for trucks and cars ) is currently 」1.42/ litre! and rising.
That if my maths is correct and at todays exchange rates ($1.51= 」1) is $2.144 / litre or in US gallons
(1 US gallon = 3.78541178 litres) $8.11 / US gallon.

Red Diesel for agri/construction use is approx 80p / litre and that equates to $4.56 / US gallon.

Even just breathing the fumes costs!

We are anticipating another tax hike of maybe 3p / litre on the green in April + of course the price rises

Yesterday diesel went down 2 cents, to $3.979. What's up with that???

/ diesel prices #90
Today (as I type this) the wholesale price of gas is $3.2990 and fuel oil is $3.2298, down roughly five cents today. The retail price at the pump, after taxes, etc. are added, I would think should be about the same for each product.

Locally retail gas is $3.599 and Diesel is $4.039.

Don87 - Could you post some evidence to support your claim that gas station owners are taxed on gross receipts. Simply repeating the claim does not give it validity.

Tax Challenges of Business Income
Gross Income

To calculate gross income, first determine net receipts (gross receipts minus returns and allowances) and minus the cost of goods sold. Returns and allowances include cash or credit refunds made to customers, rebates and other allowances off the actual sales price. Then add any other income, including fuel tax credits. Gross income must be determined first before deducting business expenses

The following site shows that most changes in the Internal Revenue Code literally require an Act of Congress not simply the decission of a President.
Tax Code, Regulations and Official Guidance

A review of the 1040 form and schedule C below will make it clear that all costs of operation are deducted.

No.

We'll just wait til January 1 2013, then you will fully remember this thread.

You will also remener this quote "elections have consequences, vote accordingly".

I've told you what is coming, and that's only the 'tip of the iceberg'.........The tax increases that hit this country in January of 2013, are going to devastate this country.

People would be aware of this if there had been a 'federal budget' passed in the last 3 years as required by law, but the Senate has failed to pass a budget in order to protect the president. But I may be wrong about that also.....might wanna check my facts.

As I said, I don't like to get into these type of discussions on here. Most people get their news from CBS, NBC, or ABC, or worse The Baltimore Sun.........they tell you what they want you to here.

98% of the people in the U.S. have no clue about whats really happening

Diesel 4.25 here

P.S. Got the 2013 tax forms handy by any chance?

P.S.S. You raised the question of 'Act of Congress'........can we say 'Health Care Bill' . "Ya gotta sign it to find out what's in it"=Nancy Pelosi

Oh, by the way........I would like to bring to the attention of those that haven't heard the 'real' news' of the week.

The Administrations Energy Secretary, said the plan was to drive up fuel costs to Europian levels to decrease our consumption, but of course this was before he 'backpeddled'..........and changed his story.

When you elect a guy, that says he will drive up the costs of fossil fuels, he probably will.

And remember "electricty prices will necessarily skyrocket under my plan" = Barrack Obama

I've decided to put it out there.

My information about the taxes came from Bob Brinker's Money Talk radio program.

Sorry for the formatting but I was too lazy to fix it. There are many factors beyond our borders that drive the world fuel price just as there were during the prior administrations.

Concerning the next election there is nothing to be gained by bantering about the results though I feel that the challenging party is not presenting its best option. I feel there may be a good option out there but he/she is not currently in the mix. Just my biased opinion.

This is what I tried to explain earlier:Energy Secretary Chu Says Lower Gas Prices Are Not Obama's Goal - Investors.com

8.00 per gallon gas is what the administration is striving for.

As I said earlier, ABC, CBS and NBC have been 'forming' public opinion for over 50 years. Even though some may not like the 'alternative media'.........sometimes it pays to listen and investigate what they are saying.

Might surprise ya:)

/ diesel prices #99
What is the thought process behind making us pay 8.00 a gallon? Just drives up the price of everything, none benefit from this.If the farmer park the tractors and the 18wheelers stopped hauling, maybe he would get the point something gotta change or the going to hit the fan....
Obama explained his views of fossil fuels in full detail before he won the primary election way back in 2008. But it was not reported by the media. And most vote along party lines and are unwilling to investigate their candidate.

More attention needed to be given to what he stood for(or should I say against), and if most of those that voted for him would have at least read his book(Dreams From My Father)..........he would not be in office today.

What you are seeing today.........is exactly what he said he was going to do.........from fuel, to healthcare, to massive taxes, to total government control of everything the people do.
