Why is it so high off the ground? Have you looked at the rolling dumpster carts that construction sites use?

He doesn’t want to use forklift to lift it.

Your brackets to hold the bin down look a little wimpy to me, but I cant tell how big they are. Is this to dump the grapes into the hopper to a crusher/press? If so, I might attach it to the framework of that for stability. If not, I would use 2x3 or 3x3 "runners" that connect both legs on one side together and extend out toward the end the bin will hang over when it dumps. I would go as far as the bin will hang out when fully dumped.

Not many questions can be answered without more detail.

How high is it

What are you dumping it into

Is it gonna be anchored to the floor

Is the floor thick/strong enough

Etc etc.

all good questions.
1. Application. Yup, dumping grapes through a hopper into the crusher de-stemmer or press. That de-stemmer sit's on top of a bin and winds up about 4 and a half feet off the ground. However at some point I plan on sizing that up, so I'm trying to accomodate for future height. Sitting low the height is about 5 feet, up to 8.5 if needed.
2. Yeah I'm making this stand alone to keep use of the fork-lift.
3. It will not be bolted to the ground, but the overall working surface is asphalt, so I'm not concerned about it sinking in.
4. Tipping is definately a factor I'm worried about. Not sure how long to make those feet, or if perhaps adjusting the pivot of the dump ighter so it doesnt hang so far out. though I feel like that complicates the build somewhat.
5. The grabbers to hold the bin would be 1"x1" - 1/8" ish thick bar stock, should be plenty strong for that.

What you're describing is actually tubing - bar stock is a SOLID shape - the tubing you're looking for would be on page 75 of this

https://www.farweststeel.com/content/misc_uploads/FWS_Standard_Weights_and_Gauges1.pdf

That'll also give you a good idea of the shapes of steel that are available at a REAL steel supplier - smaller local suppliers might only have SOME of those - because of the tariff situation, typical shapes are running about $1 a pound at this time - another reason that pdf is stored on my hard drive, makes it pretty easy to estimate costs (and how much your finished project will weigh :=) - (that's for full stick pricing, usually includes ONE cut)... We never used bin dumpers on the farm.

I’ll go over to my neighbor’s later and see if I can grab some pics of his.

Okay I grabbed a couple of pics.

A forklift is required to load the bin onto the dumper. Hope this helps.

Awesome pics, thanks for grabbing those. I see they have the pivot much higher in that design. That really mitigates the need for long stand out legs to help the tipping. It also looks REALLY burly, more so than I thought you would need. I suppose though it's a heavy duty commercial version so that makes sense. Built for constant use. Also noticing the pillow blocks for the pivot, I had wondered if i was going to need that, or a bushing / pin would suffice.

Okay I grabbed a couple of pics.
