Delivery Drone

It should be feasible equipment wise but the logistics and equipment cost may not be palatable.:D

Trees, power lines and other folk getting to the package / machine first might be problematic.:D

Although an interesting proposal...there are numerous safety concerns beyond someone in their backyard being "beheaded". Power lines, trees, other aircraft could be struck by these little machines.
I do see drones being used for search and rescue and power line inspections. I think they'd be dangerous in most other situations...

I suppose there would be a sky high "drone delivery" fee associated with this type delivery? Ken Sweet

Not if you have "Amazon Prime"

Amazon Prime is a deal in which ones pays a certain amount of money to join. I think it's about $100. My wife joined last year.
What you get for that money is fast "free" shipping and "free" movies and TV shows on Amazon's equivalent to Netflicks.
It's actually not a bad deal if you do shop a lot on Amazon (which we do) and like to watch things on the TV (I'm not a big TV watcher, but I am watching "Fringe" on Amazon Prime...all five seasons.
Anyway, maybe I'll get a "free" drone out of this...

The image of news stories with homeowner's claiming they never received their package. The homeowner's security footage will show a thieve running around with a fishing net catching the goods out of mid air.

And of course, no one would steal the drone itself, right?

I heard they were going to be autonomous. That will work just fine, right? :duh:

Tractors can drive themselves now so by the time pizza hut starts using them someone should have figured out how they can avoid obstacles. Maybe they can fly in packs of 6 or more like 14 year old kids on mopeds.

I'm hoping 3D printing in steel, etc., gets perfected before aerial delivery becomes available. When you buy something, it arrives over the internet as a code for your printer.
